This one was done for a client that needed to show how fake and hypocritical the man is on some issues.
I thought a mask would do the trick and they loved it.

Temperamental McCain

This one was done a couple of weeks ago.
The client wanted me to show and angry McCain. I couldn't find pictures of the man in such a mood so I decided to open up his mouth in a subtle way and show his lower teeth.
This is the result.

Politics 2008

One done a few weeks ago when they were after Maryland.
Things keep changing within the political atmosphere; who knows who will be on top conquering the American Flag!

Hello Everyone!

Sorry I' haven't been too good at posting new or better said, unknown things I've done in the past.
Here's one of those. This is one of the first pieces I ever did for publication. Back then I used to work in pen and ink directly on the paper! No previous sketches, nor pencil work. If things got messed up, I used to start over in anew piece of paper. Of course I've grown up and don't do sill stuff like that anymore! : )

In other news, this is just a minuscule part that will be in the book of my work I'm preparing.

Wishing you all Health, Work and plenty of inside Peacefulness in this brand new year.
Here's something different. I used to do comic strips ages ago; came up with different characters. One of them is this one here: Damnac. A very angry guy who used to get upset very easily. I did 6 pages for a humor magazine while at the university, but never pursued it at a more serious/professional level. Comics is a whole different/intricate ball game and I always was too much into Caricature.

Oftentimes I get assignments that require more generic people in a certain situation with backgrounds and stuff. They are fun to do and this is an example of how I handle those jobs.

Hi again!
Sorry haven't posted anything new lately but it's been a bit hectic on many fronts. Anyway, wanted to show you this drawing I did a couple of years ago; a client called up asking for a reprint. I really enjoy drawing faces from different angles. I wish more people in general would have pictures taken from all sorts of views so that our work gets a bit more exciting than it already is.

Mr Terry Belinger

Mr. Terry Belinger contacted me to have his caricature done. I was missing doing these in graphite on paper so the assignment came at a good moment. Thank you for a moment of fun and for allowing me to publish your picture in my blog so that I can share this with others that follow my work.

Exercise

This is something I used to do years ago and did for quite a while. Pretty good exercise not just for drawing faces, but bodies, movement, clothes, hands, etc. It's great for observation. Using b/w newspaper pictures was a delight and after a couple of drawings the hand would move with a nice flow and easiness. I recommend it strongly.

Donald Tsang

Another one of the oriental guys I've been working on lately. Notice the background; Since I had a tight deadline, what better than using a cutting collage for the city to save time and the trouble of drawing buldings -which I don't mind, but...-. : )

One more of those I truly enjoy doing. It's a lot of fun particularly when the animal's face helps me with the theme I choose to put it in.

This is something I've wanted to share for quite a while but didnt' have the outlet for it; Hah! Now I do...
This is the process I prefer to follow when doing a caricature (not a humorous portrait). Sometimes deadlines don't allow you to spend much time "playing" and many people don't quite get that the whole thing is about exaggeration.
Anyway, here it is for you to see.

In the past few months for one reason or another I've had to draw many people of asian descent; it's a bit tricky likeness wise but I think I've pulled it out in a good way.
I'll show you more soon.

This is one of those really cool ones that comes across from time to time: Great face, excellent reference pictures, pose, colors.. All in all one I had a lot of fun with!

Stravinski

Aaaahhhh! Nothing like classical composers, pop musicians, writers... They usually have the best faces and are just there for us to put them on paper; no matter what the angle is! Then you combine that with a simple graphite drawing and the results are like this.

Myron Scholes

This is one of those corporate assignments that come often to my drawing board. They are fun to do except that pictures usually have frontal views and there's nothing in caricature as having different angles to play with a face.

Here's one more of those I was talking about. they are really fun to draw and one thing I've noticed is how one can bring out the personality of these creatures.

Hi Everyone!
It is a pleasure to finally have a blog so that you, my good faithful followers have a closer channel of communication with me and my work.
I will be showing some things well known to you all and others that you are not-so-familiar with, like the guy to the left. This was used for stickers in a series of 15 different breeds I did. I love animals and enjoy doing caricatures of them. Putting them in human situations is certainly something I enjoy doing.
